Some small muscles still need to be worked in isolation. If you want bigger arms, you need to be doing isolated arm work. We need to work regularly some small muscles used for posture, as they are often underutilized in daily life and, thus, underactive. (This is a more technical way of saying weak). Examples of these are mid and lower traps (relative to upper traps). Doing rows is good and covers many muscle groups, but it’s not all we need to do for posture. Doing external rotations, band pull-aparts, and face pulls are fantastic for the upper back and shoulders.
